Being the birthday boy I decided what better way to celebrate the day than going fishing. (Doing other celebrating tonight
)
Well, we had Johnny Oz, Andy, Peter, John S and his daughter Laura on board.
Headed to the Axel Carleson reef to try to find some big fluke. Got there and tried to drift some sticky stuff. Unfortunately, we had no drift. Caught plenty of skates and sea robins, not a fluke to be had.
Off to the Manasquan Ridge where we again were met with no drift. Decided it would be a good time and place to put some spoons in the water and troll for false albies. Again a bust. However, we did have one fish dumb enough to hit a spoon. We had Laura on the first fish and she did a terrific job in landing a somewhat stranger to our area. A hound fish with a mouth full of needle sharp teeth.
Went back on the troll but didn't have any more action.
Made our way to the Sea Girt reef, a slow pick of short fluke with one keeper (barely) landed.
Even with the slow catching, it was still a fine day on the water.
