Catching BIG Mullet in a 7ft Cast Net. Dog Bait!
« on: September 22, 2012, 01:29:55 AM »
Had a nice catch of mullet.  I rarely get that many at once of the larger mullet.

Enjoy!

Thanks!  He will eat the finger mullet whole.  After he picks a larger mullet I will chunk it up for him.  I have 2 other dogs that eat them as well.

And yes that is me in all of the videos.  Here is a highlight video.

Yes its my youtube.  The deck/dock and creek is the very end of my backyard.  Trying to spread the word about getting free bait.  I grew up in NJ & Delaware and never saw anyone use a net till I moved to Florida.

I will be making a How to video soon.  Except is will just be footage from a GoPro head mount.  No explanations just HD footage from first person view on how to load / throw the net.

This is just for fun.  Was a slow day so I had to record something!  To much time and bait I suppose.

rod.. honestly.. just pick it up and trow it like a frisbee.  it isn't hard.  I should make a video the next time I am down the shore.  I get hundreds of peanut bunker per throw.

The main trick to any of the methods including mine is the Twist.  Your arms give the net speed & distance.  Your hips and upper body twist together 180 degrees and open the net circular.  The more power / speed in your twist the faster it will pancake.

Its all in the hips!

As you get better you can increase the centrifugal force by spinning your wrist just before releasing the net.  I usually have the net 70% open within 2-3 feet of leaving my hands. For 5,6,7,8 foot nets.

my small net, I don't even use my hips.. All I use are my wrists.  My 12' net, I twist swing the net to one side and before it stops, I change direction and let me hips for it open.
