Irish Ayes fluking 9/8
« on: September 08, 2007, 05:13:51 PM »
I had Johnny Oz, Andy D, Lou R and George P on the boat today.  We tried to replicate yesterday's catch.  Went directly to the lump off of the Red Church where we started yesterday.

Made four drifts there.  Picked up two keeper on each of the first three drifts and three keepers on the fourth drift.  Lou R boated a fluke just short of 26 inches.  Weighed 6.8 pounds on an uncertified digital scale.  Two other fish were 4 1/2 pounds and another one was 4 pounds.

The drift was good but the fishing was some what slow.  Six ounces of weight was sufficient to hold bottom.  We then went north to the Shrewsbury Rocks hoping to get into some really big fish.

As we were traveling, the wind was picking up.  We got to the rocks and made one drift, much quicker than what we wanted.  We had to use ten ounce sinkers and were having a hard time feeling the bottom so we decided to head back toward the inlet and try a few drifts there.

When we got near the inlet the conditions were had worsened (is that a word?) so we pulled the plug on the trip and headed back to the dock.

All in all, a good day on the water.  The first part of the trip provided some good fishing and catching.  Will try again tomorrow and Monday if the weather holds up.

Give a man a fish, and he can eat for a day. But teach a man how to fish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years.

Thanks guys, I went to the Asian Market in Levittown, Pa after getting a heads up from new member stat4u.  Some nice squid there.  Got enough for the next two days (maybe).  Hopefully we need to use it all tomorrow.   ;D

Thanks to stat4u for the info.  A new member fitting right in with the sharing.  How can you beat that?  t^
