Irish Ayes fluking with HotRod 9/9
« on: September 09, 2007, 08:36:35 PM »
Finally got to take HotRod on a fluke trip.  We left Shark River inlet with six aboard.  Me, Bob Cole, John B, Lenny B, Kenny and HotRod.

Got to our first spot, a lump off of the Red Church and made four drifts.  Put six fish in the box.  Kenny led the way with a 22 7/8 inch fluke.

Moved to Shrewsbury Rocks and met with a strong current.  Needed ten ounces plus to hold bottom.  Made three drifts and boxed four more fluke.  HotRod brought one to the boat just under Kenny's fish, missing Kenny's mark for big fish by 1/16 of an inch.

Tried back at the Red Church lump.  Struck out this time.

Made a final move to a lump off of England Bank.  Boated five more keepers.  Kenny made the almost tie for big fish a moot point when he stuck a 24 1/2 inch fluke.  This fish weighed 5.6 pounds on an uncertified digital scale.

Ended the day with fifteen keeper fluke and two keeper seabass.

The guys played catch and release with many short fluke today.

Good to have you aboard HotRod.  Ya done good.

One more day of fluking for the season.  I'm hoping the weather holds up so I can get my final trip for the year in.

Thanks Joe,

I will be looking forward to that trip and it will probably be next year. I am hoping everything gets back to normal soon.  Or at least to where I feel confident enough in my ability to function.

When I went out with Capt. Ed it was great but my mussels were twitching for days.  They are not up to par yet.  But that is why I am forcing myself to get out onto the sand it is more of a fun PT so to speak.

Thanks for the invite, I am looking forward to it.

Happy Catching
