I don't know if this site wants to get embroiled in the beginnings of a media blitz against anyone.

This is one side of the story.   Just an email from Mikes Marina.
I'm not defending anyone.  There might be more facts we are not aware of.  It's definitely not a nice thing for marina to do to another in a time like this. fngr

I don't know either one, but if it was me and my business I would not let somone else do the work on my property.

First off if you do the work on my property and damage anything. Your customer or mine, I would bet I would be paying for something.

Also if you are working on my property, my people may not be able to work. I would be paying them to stand around watching you and waiting for you to get out of my way.

Remember it's a business

If you boat washed up on someones property, the insurance company should pay to have it removed.

I like my marina and trust the guys well.  I don't think they'd lie or embelish, but let's not forget this is an emotional time for everyone.  I figured I'd let everoneknow since it was a mass email to all Brown's Point customers, but I would take it more as informative to make your own decisions than a "grab our pitchforks" moment.   t^

Good point rick....but if they wanted to do that salvage....then they should complete the salvage and take the boat across the street where it was to begin with....no insurance company is going to pay 2 salvage expenses.....can't salvage a boat twice from what I know.
Or...once the boat is in their yard....the insurance company can pay to have it trailered across the street as a transport charge....but not 2 salvage fees

I would think its just like if you have a car accident. A company  tow's you car
from the accident to their yard. Then you send the guy over to pick it up and make
the repairs after you pay the first tow and storage.

Kinda the same right?

Not sure...if you have AAA in a car accident you would have your car towed to your garage from the scene usually....i dont know if u can compare this to a car accident.

OK lets start here...

What is a salvage fee for.
Pick it up off the ground, set it on blocks or move it to a place for an estimate and or repair or scrap?

The way I see it, it should be for setting back on the trailer or blocks. Thats the only way the adjuster can get a good look at the damage. At that point if it is going to be repaired, you shold have the choice who is going to do the repair and then have it moved to that place.

That would be a transport fee.

Right...thats what i was thinking.
So i cant see how a double salvage fee would be in play....whoever salvages the boat gets that fee....and the property owner would have the first shot i would think.
