Maybe the best cooler ever?
« on: November 10, 2012, 09:45:08 PM »
I bought a large Coleman Xtreme 5 day cooler this summer. I loaded it with 120# of ice the day before Sandy came to town. I am STILL using ice our of it for mixed drinks! I know the ambient air temp is lower but I still think that's damn awesome. The drain has been open for at least the last 6 days. I would bet there still at least 80 + pounds left in it.

I couldn't agree more.  When we take it offshore...  packed with Ice.. it's more like a freezer than a cooler t^

I tried the freezing water in a ziplock bag trick and I was pretty amazed how long that stayed frozen.  didn't really do a damn thing as far as keeping the temp down but stayed frozen nonetheless. lol.

Mixed drinks? Wanna borrow Mikes pillow ;D
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Mixed as in red bull and vodka. No need for the pillow.

You know it's funny, I bought a big white cooler from Walmart a few years back.  Think I spent about $80 on it and have no idea what brand it is.  The day after the hurricane I bought 5 20 lb backs of ice.  I put one bag in a conventional cooler and kept the food in there.  The rest went in the white cooler.  Our power came back relatively soon compared to most so I didn't need all that ice and just forgot about it.  I meant to look inside a while ago when I saw this thread and for some reason I thought about it tonight.  2 of the bags are completely full, the other 2 are about half melted.  I was shocked!

Use the heater and you'll go to the cooler.
