Piebald ( Albino) Deer
« on: November 28, 2012, 04:36:15 PM »
Saw this little guy in the woods behind my house last week.

From a distance I thought it was large goat due to his color.

Seems he's been seen around town lately.

Never saw one before.

Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime.

That's actually a palomino deer, not a true albino. When I was a child there was a palomino and a true albino at the Penn Warner club in Falls Twp, PA. My dad and I saw them both on multiple occasions. It is a pretty neat thing to see.

I don't believe there are any specific regulations about hunting them. Just considered freak of nature (like some of us).

rofla That's what I first thought it was when I saw it. Thought it got loose from somewhere after the storm.

They go under the same regs as whitetails. Thats all they are is a whitetail with strange genetics. They arent extremely rare but seeing one is pretty cool. They usually arent as white as that one, but they are around. I have only ever seen one piebald buck, but have seen several does.  t^

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

I saw a huge buck like that in PA once.  Pretty cool to see.

Really?? With those colorings and markings? Nice! The one that Paulie has the photo posted of looks to me anyway, to be a young buck...just a few points. I am not up on the deer and all the particulars that come with it and just got a DEP email stating something about the season..For those of you that do hunt..would you kill one of those kinds or let it be?

Yup, it was walking through my yard one day.  It was almost all white with the exception of a small brown patch right on top of its head.

Cool deer Paul-e . I personally would choose not to harvest one if it were to pass my way, but I'm sure some might see it as " White Meat" I was always understanding that to kill one brings bad luck.

On a lighter side, do you think the other deer laugh and call him names, and never let him play any Whitetail games? :headscra:
