**WICKED TUNA **
« on: November 29, 2012, 08:45:59 PM »
grtn K, so I am watching Wicked Tuna ... Season 1 Epi 1 2012... tryin to pick up some tips for Oct 2013  ;D ;D All I gotta say is that one guy, I think he is from NJ, Capt Dave..I cant stand him! >:( His mate Steve either. I think he jumped ships last season to fish with this guy who one more time, I CANT STAND!!! >:( What a A**HOLE!!! Who does he think he is treating other fishermen the way he does??? UGH if I could tell him just how I feel I would I swear I would!!!  >:(  AND NOW a dragger hooked up with the Bounty Hunters anchor and started to pull his boat!! Ripped the anchor right off!! They tried to reach him on the raido to tell them they were to close and then tried to talk with him side by side and the dragger started throwing dead fish at them! Really??? People really act like that?? A**HOLES if you ask me...

msfsh Trish Its made for TV and dramatized to no end. Just as The Deadliest Catch. Or any Reality shows for that matter. Not one is true Life.  msfsh pcrn

Fellinger I was typing when you posted. the Same Thought

Yea??? I mean I get the other 'reality' shows, but I thought this one was more real then scripted...  :-\ They show the marking of and catching of the fish... loosing them too, to which when that guy does I feel like applauding! Usually I feel sad when someone looses a fish, especially when they are those fish and that big! Guess they got me huh...grrrrr >:( Ok Ok, I will wait to see how it's realllly done on our trip next year! BUT I will still be watching...with less, how should I put it, enthusiasm!!  rofla  msfsh

I wouldn't say it's all scripted. I can't speak for the dragger catching his anchor but, I would think some of the other "vocalizations" are somewhat trumped up.

I've never seen/heard of it.  Watching it now.  what's funny is the captain wanting to leave so now one would follow him to the magic spot and then 2 minutes later it's on the screen. lol.

I enjoyed Wicked Tuna when it was on in the spring.  Yes, it's edited, and perhaps even staged, to provide excitement and drama.  But, it's TV and that's what makes it fun!

The mate Paul is my favorite character.  Always working hard and staying optimistic.  For some reason he kind of reminds me of our old friend Hareball. ;D

I'm looking forward to watching next year's show. t^

from the few episodes I watched tonight, they all kind of seem like douchebags.  I understand that catching fish is their living but they get all bent out of shape when they cruise into a spot and someone else is already there.  But sure enough they'll pull right close to them and screw the "googans".  It doesn't seem like they're really picking a productive spot.  They're chumming the whole time to attract the tuna so what difference really does it make going 1/4 mi from another boat.

Trish,  I think you will find more helpfull instruction on Youtube videos. Just do a quick search on chunking for tuna or jigging tuna.  t^
