TOG & Ling Sat 1/12
« on: January 13, 2013, 12:28:52 PM »
well headed out on a party boat with two other guys sat morning for some toggin.  captain wound up making about seven moves in as many hours.  simply could not find a bite at all.  our side of the boat I saw two keepers and maybe, maybe three to four shorts.  TERRIBLE!!  we got one ling between the three of us....and thats it over the rail.  was informed 5 keepers on the entire boat. thd

Two more guys made it down and we stayed on to do some night linging...that was a mistake  rgmn. I got an eel, two small ling, and two tiny sea bass in the four hours of fishing.  the bite simply wasn't there.  not sure if there were 10 ling between the five of us. fcp

we all had a great time and where happy to get out and hang but the fishing simply sucked.

Sorry to hear the fishing sucked but sounds like you made a great time of it anyway! Better luck on the next one.

Gave it a shot. Heard that there was a south swell yesterday that didn't help.
Thanks for the report. t^

Good try. I hate to say it but, I think it's over now. Unless you're going offshore I think we just need to wait for the Spring.

trying to make a long story short....

captain was moving all over the place first half of the day. decides to make a big move and pick up and move out to deeper water.  half hour plus drive and he starts setting up anchor.  as he setting of course most of us out at the rail ready to fish. we hear the captain yell some explatives into the mic and start telling the mates to pull the anchor. He then starts moving away from that position and starts resetting anchor. So basically we just spent twenty or so minutes setting anchor, twice.  just after the second spot is all set we hear a huge fog horn...yep...just like out of a movie, we hear the horn and than this enormous silouette of a cargo ship starts to take shape.  a bunch of us were like holy ****!!!!

sad but that was my excitment for the day. not much, so you can tell the day was that bad.  think I have a pic so i'l try and post.
