The MARINA got me AGAIN.
« on: September 18, 2007, 02:46:04 PM »
Picked up the boat today, only to find a bill for about $1,000.00.  The first time they fixed the raw water pump and the bilge, they replace the switch and the pump, this time it was the wires... So they say...  They know if it was the pump again, they couldn't charge me.. so in my opinion, they just made up another cause to screw me.  Ya just can't win....  THIS IS WHY WE NEED A GOOD TRUSTWORTHY SPONSOR MECHANIC HERE FOR US...   So we don't get scammed year after year..

You really have to start thinking about doing your own repairs.  Dropping off a boat like that.....  all they see is $$$

The boat sucks as far as getting access to all those pumps. They are completely out of reach, but thats what to expect for a manufacture of a boat compmany to force you to use there service instead of the do it yourself.   I am going to have to start trying to find a way to save money on this dam thing or my wife will be on my ass to get rid of it... (thats not happening). With the 2 kids now, its hard to keep up. I have 2 access ports in my transom with spin off tops.. This is how water was getting into my bilge all the time.  When I checked it out with the mechanic, there were no O rings seals on the caps.  This was from the factory.. NOw, imagine all the water that has been thrown down in that bilge every year and how often that pump was working...

This was a factory over look.  So, the marina ordered the O rings, wrong size came in twice, so they had to order the entire access set up, times 2, and charged me for both with labor.. even though it was a factory over look.

I had surgery last year on both my hands for Corpal Tunnel, so the do it yourself and me don't get along as my hand cant function in those tight spaces anymore. But I will use the advice of you guys with the other marina.  If I have problems again, I will post for help.  Thanks everyone for the offer.. Like boating isn't expensive enough.

just ask I'm definitely up for the job!! My baby is only a year old and had to fix the bilge wiring .. because D&R boat use glue(epoxy)to attach the wires. They stripped the screws out.. instead of replacing the terminal bus with new one($7.49) they epoxy it!!

my attorney is still working on my suit

thanks joey.. Yeah, I remember you told me that story...  With the price of boats today, especially since they are supposed to be make to handle the Saltwater wear and tear, they should be better made.

Hi Joe,

I am looking at the 28' Southport.

Have you demoed the Regulator yet?

Boat shopping may be worst than getting a tooth pulled (LOL) ...

I saw the 33' Contender and the 36' Fountain today... off course they tell me it looks like its time to trade in for a new boat...I looked at them and said yeah right... and if I have the same problems on those boats as I do mine.. I will be in the poor house..

Anyway... my next may be a fountain.  I love the way they look, fast, sharp, ton of fishing room... and very sleek looking.
