Hey guys, before we really get our season rolling here, I decided to take my crew up to Gloucester to fish with Dave and Sandro on the tuna.com.
Crew consisted of mates Darren and Barry, Darren's brother Tj, Barry's father Barry, a 30+ trip customer of mine Bobby Long and of course myself.
Drove up early Tuesday morning and got to the marina resort around 1pm. Got out of the truck and already can hear Paul laughing from across the parking lot. Shot the crap with him and Sandro for a few then met Capt Bill of the Bounty Hunter as they were splashing his nice ride.
Went down to the tuna.com, what a sick boat. Hung out around there with Dave Sandro and pickles for a while discussing our trip Wednesday. While they were rigging the boat me and the crew went and ate at one of the best seafood dinners ever right across the street.
Got a text from Dave around 630pm and we all headed to the local bar around the corner. Great time and tons of stories back and forth with them and drank some beers till we called it a night around 10pm. 4am comes quick after drinking.....
Left the dock at 5am on the nose and headed over an hour NE. Got set up in around 280ft (god damn) and started jigging. Constant pick all day with keepers shorts and of course, dogs. When the wind picked up, we anchored. Used bait and jigs all day. Pickles barks at dogfish and wants to kill them but licks the codfish. Funny. We had a great time fishing and it doesn't get any nicer on the water then it was. Back at the dock around 315pm. Had about 40 keeper cod with a couple pollack and a few haddock some kusk? And a big sea raven, haha. Had some beers with Sandro as we were loading the truck and changing. Stayed another night and was on the road before 5am.
All in all a fun experience going to Gloucester where most of us have never been. Totally worth the mini trip. Everything was reasonably priced like the hotel which is 10 steps from the boat and especially the food. Holy crap. Insane. Definitely doing it again next year, but for the giants. Very nice charter operation on the boat as well. Good times.
Now it's almost time to fish 7 days a week! Now that our fun is out of our systems it's time for work. See you guys soon!
