I have a new rod and need a reel, what are your thoughts?

I was lucky enough to win the Star Plasma Offshore rod and now I need a reel.
What do think I should get?

IF you are only going to use it now and then and money is a concern, you may want to look at some of the Okumas. I have two (forget the # offhand) on 50# rods and I like them. Again, they're not Penn Internationals or Tiagras but they get the job done and were reasonably priced.

I saw them and own a few for my Salmon trolling rods and have no problems with them at all.
The main question is how much I am going to use it. I don't think I will use it much at all.

That's why I went with them and they were a steal on Ebay or some other site.

Hi StillRunning, I ahve an OKUMA 50 Wide 2 speed, silver version, all aluminum, loaded with 80 pound braid over 80 pound dacron backing, over 600 yards total, $200.00 used maybe twice?

Yea but I might use it once a year if I'm lucky. That's the only thing that bothers me.

Simple, give me the rod Ill put a reel on it and let you borrow it once a year
