** Bulk Bait **

It's me   Question; Last year or maybe the year before I came across huge bags of frozen spearing.   For me, getting a couple of those and breaking them up into 4 packages helped me in the long run with always having bait and saving a few bucks.   BUT I don't know where I got them from.   Anyone know where to go?? I usually hit Fred's but looking for someplace else. Thanks Fam! {{{HUGZZZZZ}}}

Yea? There is one by us up on 22 that's HUGE and always packed. Maybe in my travels I'll stop in. If no one knows on here which Bait Shop, I can make some calls. I know there are a couple down by Jenks but I didn't want to 'road trip' it for bait Maybe I can ask the owner at Freds to order me some packages if he doesn't already carry them. I don't remember him having the large ones last year.

just ask for a flat.  did you try Tackle Box on 36? I haven't bought bait in a while but they're always my stop on the way to my spots

No not yet... I like it there though  Who ever was waiting on me at the time was always helpful and super nice.  A flat you say...I think I can remember that! Thanks~

My fluking buds that live down there usually hit Spring Lake Freezer to load up on bulk bait for the season.. They are a wholesaler that supplies many of the tackle stores.. but they will sell to the public as long as you buy in case lots.. try giving them a call...  saves a ton of $$

I heard of that; guess it was from YOU!  Anyone wanna get in on something like this? If we can get enough people in on it then we all could make out! I'll take the drive and also have a freezer big enough to house it all till pick up. Something to think about peeps. The season has just started!

My friend Bill owns Spring Lake Freezer.  He's a great guy and does supply bait shops in around 8 states. He does only sell in flats which is like a case of the small packs you see at the bait shops. Things like spearing, squid strips, sand eels and all the other yummy flavors. He also carries offshore bait too.  I run into him a few days a week at the "Library" after work. I can talk to him about pricing or just give him a call at the office.

I get my spearing and smelt (Peruvian spearing) from Spring Lake Freezer usually a couple of cases at a time as I use a ton of bait thru the season.

Nice Eddie!  Its true when they say 'It's who you know' huh  Well, I'm interested in going in on a case of spearing and squid...anyone else?? I'd be more than happy to pick up and deliver too!

I stopped by the local H-Mart today while running errands. I was impressed with the selection of "bait" aka food that they have.

They had some really nice mackeral, squid, small clams, and cuttlefish. I am thinking a full rigged cuttlefish might be some really good mako bait??

I may actually stop fishing all together since the store actually sells LIVE fluke and tilapia. I might not shop there often but, in a jam I certainly will stop.

Agreed! I usually get a tub for the season and then the packages of different colors and sizes. I like the long white and pink squid thingy too.  I see a lot of people with the spay too. Big John turned me on to that during our annual fluke trip last year. Which btw 1) WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BIG JOHN??  2) We have to start talking about a date and so on. I'll try and post something up soon; feel everyone out and try and get more people. There were quite a few last year that wanted to go but couldn't because of the day. I think the sooner we post the sooner we can get a date that almost everyone will be able to come.
