Rippin Lip 6/20 fluke, blues, and almost some drum.
« on: June 20, 2013, 09:58:50 PM »
Started out around 6. Headed over to the usual spot. Picked up 3 keepers and about a dozen shorts with a bunch of robins mixed in. A little after noon, went to the rocks. nothing on the first drift then had a bunch of bunker come through. did some snag and drop with no takers. Then something that I never saw before happened. A school of 200+ Drum swam right under the boat. What an Awesome sight! cfzd several 6'+ Hooked up with 2 of them on our fluke rigs. Fought one for about 10 min before it threw the hook the second one stayed on for about 40 min but never got it within 50' of the boat. After that the wind picked up and 8oz couldn't hold bottom so we headed over by the ammo pier. picked up 3 more keepers and them the blues came through. At one point we had 4 on at one time. all pretty nice size. After that called it a day. Back to the dock at 6pm. Have surgery on my wrist tomorrow so probably my last trip out for some time. What an awesome day. slt

Nice trip, did happen to see a school of them last year, had to be thousands, drove right over them turned around and sat on top of them for a while but as they got closer to ambrose channel they just dove deeper and deeper. pretty awesome site. chrz  , would need some heavy gear to bring those big boys in!
