Had a NJSWF crew today
Had Wreckfish, his son Jakemeister and my son onboard today for some ocean fluking. We started out jigging on the Scotland grounds and we put 5 keeper fluke in the box along with a couple of sea bass. Soon we lost the drift so I headed east to try some more rough spots but had no current their either. We went to the mud dump anchored and gave the sea bass a try, we picked away (except Phil)catching a bunch of short sea bass, a few short fluke, a ling and even an out of season winter flounder. The wind was starting to pick up so we headed back inshore to give Scotland another shot. Jake had yet to put a fluke in the box but soon hooked up with a nice one and at the same time Phil had to break off his rig from the bottom. Of course the two lines tangle
We worked together to get this mess cleaned up and soon after a 5.25lb fluke ends in the cooler. The guys managed a few more nice keepers to the pile. With the winds picking up and the skies darkening to the west we headed in. Our final count was 9 keeper fluke, 5? keeper CBs and a nice ling. The captain did manage to keep the short fluke away the other hooks
Had a great day out with the guys even after being knocked on my butt by a wave an crushing a bucket of gulp in the process. I will have to burn those shorts.
