When do you move in ?
Kim and I spend a couple of weeks in Florida, on Hutchinson Island, near Stewart. We're looking for a condo. We found the perfect spot for us.Anyway, I was surf fishing one morning and caught a small Pompano. I didn't know the regs, but I cut a chunk, put on a large hook, waded out as far as I could (ocean temp around 80 degrees!) and casted.I hooked into something big and strong. I caught a 25lb+ striper from the surf, In caught a 78lb black drum from the surf (have the pic to prove it, made the Fisherman mag.)but I never hooked into something like this. I had 25lb braid with a 25lb fluorocarbon leader on. this was a test of my drag, which I needed to tighten and tighten down, because this fish was going to take all of my line if I didn't.I got to the point where the drag was tightened almost to the stopping point, I had to use my hand against the spool to add more. This was the strongest fish I ever had hooked, I could feel it's power through the braid on my graphite rod. I had no idea what this fish could be, not being familiar with Florida fishes, but 1 thought kept crossing my mind..."I wanted to at least see it before it broke my line". The fish made me walk up and down the beach, people gathered around.40 minutes later I beached the beast, people shouted, kids screamed. It was a 6' Thresher shark.I had never seen one before, There was no way I was going to try to remove the hook, the thing was still thrashing about, still strong, it looked like it was made of pure muscle.Thankfully the line broke at that moment. Fortunately too a wave came up the beach and the beast was able to struggle it's way back to the ocean. The 20 or so people who were there applauded. I was spent. It was amazing.-Mr Limpett .
