Calm Seas Fluke Fishing
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:59:42 PM »
Today was the calmest I have seen the ocean off Point Pleasant in a very long time. Our targeted fish aboard Off Duty today was Fluke but with very little breeze to move the boat, the drift we hoped for was not there. During the course of the morning we picked at a few short Fluke and Sea Bass and returned them to the sea. Schools of bait fish were plentiful and we had a Thresher Shark cruise by to say hello. The water temperature has warmed up considerably since last week. After making several moves, the bite turned on around 11:00 and we caught some nice sized Fluke, ranging from 20 inches to 25 inches in length. In the mix, we caught a handful of Sea Bass. All in all, a nice day aboard Off Duty on the waters of the Jersey Shore.
