Technics for Alby's?
« on: October 01, 2007, 11:05:32 PM »
Looking for some ideas to fish for the Alby's.  I heard trolling feathers are effective is this the best way? And what am I looking for when I'm trolling location wise?  5hrug

troll structures, lumps, etc...  when bait fishing, fresh or frozen spearing or butterfish work very well.  Hide the hook in the bait because the Albies are line and hook shy.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
Call Nick for open boat, 973-417-5756, or on Channel 68.

I've never trolled or bait fished for albies (at least not here in NJ-did catch a few drifting bally-ho chunks in Fla.).

I've taken all my NJ albies (with the exception of 1) on a tubeless AVA017 tied directly to my main line. Casted out into a pod of breaking fish and burned it back. Instant hook up and then the fun begins  ;D. The 1 lone exception, I caught an albie on either a )27 or 047 jigging bluefish inside Raritan Bay right outside Monmouth Cove marina. Saw other albies swimming around that day but couldn't get them to bite.

Thanks for the replies, I'll be out this weekend and hopefully can pick some up on the way in.
