Friday, after my son got out of school we decided to hit the beach in Long Branch. We took along a friend of his who never surf fished before.
Got to Long Branch, and set the boys up with some rigs of spearing/squid. I bought a new Spro bucktail and hooked on a Gulp mullet. First cast, I connected with a solid 18 inch fluke. My FIRST keeper of the year from the surf. We caught a few more shorts and a few sea robins. Boys had a blast and my sons friend cant wait to hit the surf again.
We got home and he had his first taste of fresh fried fluke which he loved. A great night out.
And also there was a decent blitz going on out far out of casting range, my heart was pumping, did all i could to cast out , but no takers. Still an awesome night out!
