t^ Yes sir , Alot of old gold coins pop up on the beach. I have a old metal boxs filled with old stuff from twenty five years . My uncle got me into it and he new where all the old houses were in sterling forest and in Orange county N.Y. We found a few old hand guns in the old homes from years ago . They would fall behind the fire places behind the mantle. Go place to look for the old garbage dumps behind the homes and we picked up a lot of old bottles . I must get back to it come spring t^

Took advantage of the great weather today and hit IBSP for a little while.
Tried out the new gear and did a little casting practice.  25mph wind made the casting tough, but it was a nice trip.  Good to get out on the sand and break the cabin fever.
There was something out there, cuz the birds were working.

It's great just to hear a surf report!  How did you like the new gear?

Very nice.  Huge difference over the old crap.  Like I said, the wind made things tough, but they casted nice and smooth.

Good going Chris.  I wish I had the opertunity to get out but we were traveling back from Maryland after visiting our nephew (Who is doing great BTW).

I might try and get our on Monday for a little once the air warms up a tad.  I bought a 8' Dolphin Surf by Tica on Friday to replace a rod I am giving my sister- in -law to get her use to some newer equipment she uses when she is here.

It will handle up to 20# line and lures from 3/4 - 3 0z. It is super light  I like you can't wait to get out to try in now.

Thanks for the report I think cabin fever is hitting us all pretty hard right about now.

I agree,  I am so looking forward to this year.  I think I will be stocked on everything I need tackle wise.  I have been tying teasers and now am concentrating on rigs.

As a follow up to this past weekend.  Saturday was pretty much a wash out as the wind really did us in down here.  We had gusts to 48 mph it was crazy.  But Sunday was gorgeous and it seemed that everyone was out on the beach.

The wind was out of the west keeping all the swells down so the ocean was like a lake.  I observed only one small bass caught off Seaside and that was about it.  The lonely bass was caught on clams and right now all the B&T's that are open are fully stocked with all sorts of bait of your choice, but at least for now I would choose clams especially if you look at the beaches there are clam shells all over the place.  If this does not bring the striper's in nothing will.

This week is iffy as the rain is predicted to come into play a number of times so if you are going out be careful.

It's good to have the season started and I for one am looking to be out a lot more than last year.  The only thing I will be doing different is the times I will be out there.  pre dawn and at dusk will be my targets.  Last year was a weird year for me as I had to go whenever I could get out.

I am looking forward to slamming them this year.  So don't forget to post any reports here as we need good as well as the skunks.

Happy Catching

I would like to say I'll see you out there but i rarely make it to ibsp because I have to drive along 8 miles of perfectly "fishable" beach to get there.  ;D

Understood on the perfectly good beach but I do both and have for years like they say old habits die hard.

I have 10 miles of beach to fish and during the week even in the summer it is not to bad.  The thing I do not do is fish out there when the crowd is down for summer vacations on weekends.

I live roughly 5 or so miles from the entrance to the park and if I want to go north some days I do.  In fact to this say one of my favorite beaches to fish is Ortley beach right at the third avenue parking lot.

Yeah Ken I am looking forward to getting out there and watch you bust your a$$, only kidding my friend.  I wonder what this season will have in store for itself.  Lets try for a hammer head this year that would be awesome.

Happy Catching
