5/18 Sandy Hook Striper Report... a.m. & p.m. Trips
« on: May 19, 2014, 08:49:03 AM »
First up had Mark and the Lancaster crew out for the Striped ones. Started out pulling plugs and caught 2 blues back to back....put the plugs away promptly and started searching. Marks were a bit scattered but we set up on the best we could find. Plucked 3 quick bass and a couple of blues and it shut down. Looked again and found some more marks so we reset. Plucked 4 more bass to 24lbs and a couple shorts....and of course the yellow eyes. Solid day and we lost a few bass as well.
Back out in the afternoon on our open boat for the stripers. Ran back to where we finished but it looked dead on the screen. Searched the area and found a little bit of life to set up on. First wave was the Bluefish. Then the bass started to bite here and there. Steady pick of a bass here amd one there...then some blues...then a bass...even had a double header of bass and a fluke...then more blues....ran home with 5 bass for the crew which included Njswf MBailey and Dennis.
Tougher fishing but they stayed at the rail until the end!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
