H2-Mako Mania report 6-21-14 Hallie Loren
« on: June 23, 2014, 08:59:46 AM »
Scott G, Jersey Joe and Cashin joined me for the Mako Mania tournament. We pulled out of Keyport on Friday at 3:30pm  to cruise down to Manasquans Southside Marina for the night.  Our slip was right next to Captain Jerry's Fish Monger 2.  The new Monger is awesome!
The Captains meeting was fun. We made good friends with the Bud Light girls.   ::)..   We got a call from the boat Low Bid and they had a cooler full of Bluefish for us to pick up.  Thanks Mike!!
Late dinner and more  chrz chrz chrz chrz chrz    thud at the Patio Bar and we head back to the Hallie Loren for some sleep.
4:30 AM  turn on the keurig get all prep work done for 5:30am shotgun start , 50 mile run to the grounds and the conditions were great, 1 knot drift and enough wind to fly the kite rig.  "Thanks for the kite lesson Sandro of FV-TUNA.COM"!!   We had 4 lines on Balloons and another behind us on the Kite.  Couple hours into drifting the 3 long line gets a hit and lines peeling very fast.  Joes harnessed in and we notice the reels line on this Borrowed 50 international is spooled very loosely towards the center.   cfzd    Lines still peeling fast and gets imbedded in the loose line and stops dead, SNAP!!   :P     After a few choice words by everyone we setup again and never had another hit.   At 4pm we made the 80 mile run direct to Keyport.  Our friends on Tradition boated a 240 for fourth place as of Saturdays standings. Congradulations men. chrz

Nice effort crew!  Sux on the lost fish, that's gotta sting!

How long time wise was the 80 mile run back home?
