#IFISHNY Challenge!
« on: August 18, 2014, 12:14:26 PM »
Think you could land “The Big One” this year? Want to see how your catch measures up to others in your area? Enter a photo of your biggest “lunker” in the #IFISHNY Challenge to show off your angling skills and a chance to win cool prizes. This contest is open to ALL anglers, not just NY residents. Prizes include an Old Town Predator MX fishing kayak!

Just snap a photo of your largemouth or striped bass next to measuring tape. Then upload your photo onto the Trophy Case App, now available through NY Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife app. Tag your photo with the hashtag #IFISHNY and post! (See below for How to Enter.)

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will provide one free lifetime fishing license to be awarded for the longest largemouth bass and one for the longest striped bass. Other fun prizes, including Taste NY Gift Baskets, Watchable Wildlife Guides, Conservationist subscriptions and more, will be awarded to lucky anglers in each of the seven regions throughout the state: Long Island, New York City, Catskills, Hudson Valley, Adirondacks, Central New York and Western New York.

How to Enter:
•   Using the NY Fishing, Hunting & Wildlife App, download the Trophy Case® App (http://ow.ly/AkCLT) to your device by clicking on the Trophy Case icon so a menu appears. Within this menu, locate the tab Open Trophy Case and click on it. You will then be prompted to download the app.
•   Set up a personal photo feed by creating an account or loggin in through Facebook.
•   Make sure your account is set for “public viewing” in the profile settings section.
•   Click on the center “camera” to take or select photos; remember to pose your fish next to measuring tape!
•   When uploading your photo, select the “Fishing” category.
•   On the “Phone Details” page, enter information on the location and size of the catch. In the “Notes” section of this screen, type the hashtag: #IFISHNY.
•   Click “POST” and you’re done!

Don’t have a smartphone?
You can also enter the challenge by emailing your fish photo to IFISHNY@dec.ny.gov with your fish photo attached. Include length of fish, your full name, mailing address, and location where the fish was caught.

The deadline to enter is Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2014 at 11:59PM.

Contest Rules:
•   Fish must be caught in New York State waters.
•   Fish must be either largemouth bass or striped bass to be eligible to win.
•   Measure fish to the closest quarter-inch with mouth closed and tail pinched.
•   Fish must be caught during contest period (August 11th - September 1st).
•   Entrants who are over the age of 16 or older must have a valid NYS fishing license or be enrolled in the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry.
•   All photos submitted become DEC property and may be used for promotional purposes.
•   Department of Environmental Conservation employees and their families are not eligible to win.
•   All winners must be legally eligible to receive the prizes.
•   Recipients of the Lifetime Fishing License must be residents of the State of New York. In the event of a non-New York resident winner, at the discretion of the organizer, a prize of equal value may be awarded in lieu of the Lifetime Fishing License. All winners of the Lifetime Fishing License may also designate another person to receive the prize at the time the prize is awarded.
DEC has the right to disqualify any photos or entries received.

Please note:
In the event of a tie in one or more of the seven regions, prizes will be awarded to winners randomly selected from the tied entries.
