Water Report 10/27
« on: October 27, 2007, 12:59:48 PM »
Went to Ah an pull the Luna Sea 3 out of the water.. If you can deal with the rain, the water was very, very clear and barley a ripple, SMOOOOOth sea.

If anyone was out today, it didn't look all that bad.

its out for the year...  I do have it sitting on my trailer at the house until I can schedule it to get winterized, but, it the weather looks OK, I may dump it in Belmar for a day.. Im just not too familiar with fishing that area..  I may just say the hell with it until spring.

i also read small craft, but when I was at the marina, I can see totally flat sea's in the distance looking from AH to the Ammo Pier.  I don't know how it is out front ocean side, but the bay looks great.

I went out late in the afternoon with SouthPaw.  The ocean was smooth.  Had about a three to four foot swell with a lot of distance between them.  Not bad conditions at all in the ocean.  Wind was from the southwest and swung to the northwest.  That usually makes for pretty flat seas close to shore.  The water was somewhat dirty.

Luna, if you go out of Shark River you can head north.  About six miles from the inlet is the red church area.  Some good structure there.  Can troll or anchor on some rock piles.  Stripers, blues or bottom fish.  Another five miles and you will be at the Shrewsbury Rocks.

If you are in Jackson with the boat, Shark River is a short ride down I-195. (less than a half hour) Launch at the municipal or Bry's and you will have a one mile run to the ocean.

If you head south out of the river pick a wreck that was sunk at the Sea Girt reef and you should be able to hook up with some seabass and/or porgies.

I know, I should, I just don't want to screw anything up that will cost me more money next year.  With my new addition to the family this summer, my son, I have to put a tarp over the boat instead of shrink wrapping it this season to save some $$$.  If I knew more about how to winterize the boat, I would attempt it..

Easy to do, glad to help if you wish.......

I always put the Blue Tarp over the boat, lasts at least 2 years......and you just losen the lines and can get inside to do some work before the cover comes off if you wish. And the Tarps are cheap at Lowes....... TT^

thanks a bunch, I will keep you in mind for help if I decide to do the do it yourself thing... Lowes, sound like a great choice.  I always did the shrink wrap thing, but its getter very expensive lately, so the tarp is the way to go...  Thanks

Nick, if you go with the tarp make sure you put some support under the tarp as in the way of pvc pipe.  Make a frame for the tarp to go over.  You do not want any water to pool on the tarp.  You want to water to run off.
