Bait from surf this weekend??

Hello All,

Looking to go out to SH fri night or sat like 4am.. THINKING of casting clams out.. ant other suggestions?

If SH means Sandy Hook, I would suggest fishing a little further north until the ocean temps rise. I will be fishing that area all week and yes clams are the bait of choice in the spring.
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

What ever bait you will use make sure it is smaller than usual as the bass's metabolism is not into full swing yet due to the colder water. I use a hi / lo rig with maybe 2/0 to 3/0 hooks.  They are looking for the smaller stuff and that is why they will hang out below the blues and feed on their droppings of scraps.
