June 3rd Bass/Fluke trip
« on: June 03, 2015, 04:56:22 PM »
Tried my luck trolling spoons in the bay during sunup. First time I used them in the bay. NADA. Did not mark much of anything either. Headed to a few of my fluke spots and kept getting shorts, with quite a few 17s. Adding a small piece of squid strip to the gulp increased the otherwise very slow action quite a bit. Had one bite strip my 6 inch pink shine off in one big hit. All the other boats left the area and I decided to run over the same ground for one more try. Landed a nice 7+ lb-er (it's nice to finally have a scale) in the same area I had the big hit. During slack I lost the drift and headed to some deeper channel edges where there was still some drift . Drifted whole squid just to try. Had a heavy one one, gave back some line and it was still there so I lifted again and it was still there but it let go just as I went to set the hook. After that I switched back to trolling the bay and marked allot of bait. Had one knock down that was gone before I got to the pole.  rgmn Fishing alone has it's ups and downs. Took me a long time to net the large fluke and I missed one that was likely about 19 inches. All in all it was a nice day considering the weather report was questionable. Looking forward to the warmer water coming in.
Nothing better than the sound of a screaming reel!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Nice day. The water had to be a bit dirty after all that rain. t^
