Nice day for a boat ride, actually a lil cool in the AM on the water, so we went to Scotland and kept going. No other boats around; we were catching ling and seabass, but nothing sizable. Some guys came by to investigate so we moved further away. I caught my first sundial and a few short fluke.
More boats arrived and the sun got hotter. We are time constrained always, so we made a move back up the SHC and started nailing the 17.75" fluke, drift after drift, on the channel edges. They hit bucktails, gulp, squid, kellies, bare hooks, you name it, but they sent in the shorties and kept da big guyz in the mud.
Another fine trip, probably logged 40miles or more on the boat, but still the same number of dinner fish. Zero.
WTF is wrong with us? OK m aybe it isn't us, we did not see a keeper fluke caught all day.
I think I am going to start filleting and releasing-- these 17.75" fish are killing me.
