Broken St. Croix update.
« on: August 28, 2015, 07:42:18 AM »
I followed up on the info that Phil (wreckfish) gave me on Tuesday after my St. Croix rod broke into 2 pieces while fishing on the Monger. Thanks Phil.  t^

After checking the code on my rod against info on their site I found out my rod was actually 10 years old and no longer covered by their free full replacement. They have a Gold Service Plan which covers these type of problems. For a $50 fee which I gladly paid they will except the rod back and either fix it or send you a NEW replacement. My rod lists on their site for $160 so that is great.  They also have a discount shipping program with Fed EX of $15 which covers anything up to 8 feet in length and is also insured. Rod went out yesterday afternoon.

I salute St Croix for standing behind the quality of their rods and working with fishermen to repair or replace it if there are any problems.  t^  slt

I just came back from the liquor store and there was this long package on the front porch. My brand new replacement rod from St. Croix had arrived.  I felt like a kid at Christmas time opening it up.  TT^ Besides the discount shipping rate to them they also paid the return shipping costs. A big tip of the hat to St. Croix for standing behind the quality of their fishing rods.  clp  slt

Now I will have to play hooky from work one day this week to test it out.  Looking at Friday if all goes well.

Nice, I've used the service a couple times. They actually called me and asked if I wanted to upgrade to next level rod and I did.. t^

Save the shipping tube for future repairs.

Did St. Croix send you instruction on how to use the rod. That's what you really need!

No they didn't, but somehow they knew I owned "THE STICK" and made me a very generous offer for it.  clp  t^ They want to put it in their home office lobby as a shrine to great fishing poles of the past.  slt

I am pretty sure I will be on a NS "bigger" charter boat out of Belmar on Tuesday to see how the new rod works. Bring pool money if you want to come see me in action with the new rod.   cfzd chrz
