Looking for Tournaments, Flea Markets, Boat Shows, etc
« on: November 16, 2007, 05:00:46 PM »
Hello Everyone,

If any one has information on Tournaments, Flea Markets, Boat Shows, Expos, anything of interest to our fishing community, please notify me in a PM or post it here.

I will take then put it on the home page in the appropriate place.

Put as much info on the event that you can.  If there is a web page for the event that is better yet, I can get all the info to post off of the web page.   t^

Thanks,
Capt. Joe of the Irish Ayes.

Joe, There is a fishing flea market Dec.2nd at Lakewood High School , Somerset Ave.& 7th , Lakewood NJ 08701  9am-3pm. This is usally a large one. With all of the fishing flea markets popping up all over, it's hard to get alot of venders together in the same place, as was the case recently at the Toms River HS flea market which sucked. There is a web site, www.TackleShows.com that lists them all in the tri state area, but I don't know how to post links. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

They have listed two FLW Striper Tournaments for NJ this year, 4/19 Fortescue and 5/24 AH.  Does anyone from NJSWF fish them?

I think we should pay close attention to all NJ fishing tournaments this season.  I know there a quite a few Fluke tournaments in June/July.  We should all group together and join these events with 3-4 person teams.  This will be a great way for some of us who haven't met each other yet, to meet on the water.  Right before a tournament starts, we can meet at the port or on the water by boat and say HI to each other before the start of the tournament.  THEN IF ANY MEMBER WINS THE TOURNAMENT WHO IS ON NJSALTWATERFISHERMAN, WE CAN DONATE HALF THE PRIZE MONEY TO THE SITE THEN SPLIT THE REST AMONG THE FISHERMAN ON THE WINNING BOAT.  This will only work if the top prize is won because the smaller prizes may just be enough to pay for the day.

If we have enough participating members, we may be able to run our own tournament with ONLY our members

I figured a first place price is anywhere from $2500.00 - $5000.00.  If our site puts together 20 boats (should be more), our odds get better.  Even with the $2500.00 prize, take $1000.00 and donate it to something pertaining to this site, and the rest goes to the fisherman..  Its fun, you have nothing to lose since we are all fishing most weekends anyway, and its a chance to grab bragging rights.

Rod will have to find a nice spot on the home page for a picture of the winning team...  ;D ;D

It might be a nice idea to subtract the entry fee from the prize since that has to be paid by the captain in addition to the other expenses. The FLW fee is $450-500

Normally you take out the boat share: Entry fee-Gas-oil, Ice, bait, etc...then split up the money slt

just don't forget to pony up for the calcutta.....was in a tournament this summer, the guys who caught the biggest fish (it was a five fish tourn) and would have won the $3,600 calcutta were two cheap to kick in $8.50 a head (for the 6 man crew) at the Captains meeting.

Needless to say they got rode so hard at the after party, that they left in a hurry TT^

Most of the time the calcutta is more than the first place prize.
