Got out on the 1/2 day striper trip today. Been wanting to do this for many years and finally had my chance!
Today's trip (in a nutshell) was:
Birds, Big swells, Beautiful weather and
BluefishBirds were everywhere! From the moment we left the inlet there were birds working and diving, with many boats following them.
Big swells were the norm today. Not awful, but enough to give you a good soaking if you happened to stay out on the deck when we moved from spot to spot.
Beautiful weather: How can you beat 65 degrees with plentiful sunshine this late into November?!
Bluefish were the main catch today. I had about 8 blues today (up to about 12 lbs.) and 0 stripers.
Many of the blues were spitting up sandeels. There were about a 1/2 dozen stripers caught, with one angler catching two keepers. I think he got them on a Krocodile.
So, while we had action, the striper fishing was certainly disappointing today. I can't wait for the water to cool off some more to chase these bluefish further south! On the plus side, I didn't lose a single butterfly jig to those demons!
Also, met a couple of nice guys on the boat today and had a great Thanksgiving morning doing what I love best!
It sure beat peeling potatoes!
