Another unsettled week with rain and thunderstorms, a passing Atlantic cyclone, and cautious water conditions due to higher seas. Showers will be possible on both Tuesday and Wednesday. These will be scattered showers and mainly across southern parts of the state. Thursday will have showers and thunderstorms at night continuing into Friday and the weekend. Highs will start off in the 80’s inland and 70’s at the shore on Tuesday, 70’s and 80’s on Wednesday, then 60’s and 70’s for Thursday and Friday. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50’s to low 60’s. Humidity will be high, then moderate to high. Water conditions will be good for rivers and bays, except the Delaware Bay. DB will have good conditions for Tuesday, then borderline to cautious conditions for Wednesday and Thursday, then good conditions again on Friday. Ocean Waters will be cautious all week, both due to seas to 4 feet and some gusty winds to 20 knots. There are definitely times and days where conditions will be good, but they will be in pockets and localized. Right now, I am not seeing any effects from the current forecast track of Post Tropical Storm Bonnie, including any long period swells. However, if track or intensity changes, so could this forecast and any effects. Thunderstorms are possible this week, so be aware of fast approaching or pop-up thunderstorms that will bring heavy rains, dangerous lightning, gusty winds, and waves higher than forecast values. Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok. Surf heights will be at 2-4 feet through Thursday, then 1-3 feet on Friday. Winds could gust to 20 knots. Rip Current Risks will be Low, with a chance of Moderate Risks. Water temperatures are steady in the 60’s with some 70’s for shallower waters. UV Index will be Low to Very High at 1-10/15.
Tropical moisture remained over eastern New Jersey and the Delmarva Monday afternoon. This moisture will shift off the coast this evening as a cold front approaches from the west. The cold front will track through the region late Monday night into early Tuesday. High pressure will follow for the middle of the week. A cold front, attached to low pressure moving across eastern Canada, will slide across the Mid Atlantic region on Friday or Saturday. The remainder of the forecast period looks to be unsettled due to another approaching low pressure system.
The weekend will just be a continuation of the end of the week with showers and thunderstorm chances both days. Highs will be in the 70’s with overnight lows in the 60’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will start off borderline on Saturday, then improve to mostly good conditions.
