Another "Wednesday" on Thursday somehow, so we head out after work loaded up for da flattees.
Wind was rising as we get to the spot, a usually consistent spot we have not capitalized on yet this year. Yea it's a lil snotty. 4oz barely holding; 5 minutes into the first drift BAM nice keeper in 33'. Stereotypical "this looks like it will be a good night" 's were whispered nervously, but we all know how it was really gonna go down.
So we short drift the spot a few times, nada. Slide over west a lil, nope. Back up to the shoal, drift off into the deep, zippo.
Sun is dropping fast, so we head back to the lobster claw area, and I suggest Tombo may want to try for a whistle fish. Couple more drifts and we are talking about heading back for some better hydration, and he pulls it off. Ask and sometimes ye receive.
A keeper for each of us last night, and nothing else. The keeper-short, and keeper-garbagefish ratios were off the scale. Leading indicators are trending towards FISH from CUT BAIT.
We'll be back at it in a few days.
