1 happy keeper
« on: December 08, 2007, 09:20:39 PM »
`started at the tip of the hook jigging with the birds and followed them up towards rockaway area and then way out in the middle of nowhere land rariton bay and then down towards the 1rst bridge in shrewsbury river(ocean side).   Birds were everywhere i looked.  30ft to 60ft deep we caught fish. after 15 fish we stopped counting. all fat 20-25"ers. nice fighters. my arm is sore. we used avas and crocs and switched to 2oz spro bucktails with a strip of GULP. then the bite really picked up.
I read the other dayabout a guy catching 109 bass in a half day....how the heck can you count that many fish??? 5hrug
anyway, i had to pull the boat out of the water and it may have been the last trip for the year but it was great....we manage to stretch 1 out to 28" for dinner but that was it out of at least 50 fish between 2 guys.
One thing i learned today was that the bigger fish seemed to be under the gannets.

hopefully you all can get out a time or 2 still because the fish are still there.

Nice day of fishing Keith.  The gannets usually will dive on bigger bait.  Probably why the bigger stripers are there.

You know makokeith,

We went out yesterday off the surf and bucktails are about the only thing we did not try.  I had one on the second rod but I don't know why I did not throw that out.  Go Figure... 5hrug
