A mostly settled week for weather and borderline conditions on the water. The week will have more sun than clouds and rain and will start off with seasonable temperatures. Monday and Tuesday will be dry, where Wednesday through Friday will have chances of showers and thunderstorms. Mondays highs will only be in the 70’s and 80’s with lows in the 50’s to 60’s. By Tuesday highs will move into the 80’s and 90’s with lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Humidity will start off low to moderate becoming moderate to high. Water conditions will be good to borderline with a borderline to cautious day. Monday inshore will start off good while midshore to offshore will be borderline. Borderline conditions will continue through Thursday for all locations with winds to 15 knots and seas 2-4 feet. Friday will have borderline to cautious conditions with winds to 20 knots and seas to 4 feet. Surf and beach conditions will be good to borderline with surf heights 1-3 feet with occasional waves to 4 feet. Rip Current Risk will be Low to Moderate, but Monday could start off High. Surf conditions from the weekend were deadly with many distressed swimmers and a couple people still missing and assumed dead. Be careful Monday with any residual poor surf conditions and follow postings by local Beach Patrols. Water temperatures have dropped some due to the low pressure system and some initial southern upwelling. Inshore waters are in the low to mid 70’s with shallower waters in the mid to upper 70’s. Midshore to offshore waters took the biggest hit with water temperatures down into the mid 60’s to lower 70’s. UV Index will be Moderate to Very High at 4-9/15.
Strong summertime high pressure over the Midwest weakens eastward this week. A weak cold front slides into the mid Atlantic states Tuesday night and very slowly dissipates or drifts north Wednesday and Thursday. A significant cold front slowly approaches from west on Friday, and crosses the mid Atlantic states on Saturday.
There are two areas of invest being watched in the Atlantic. One is in the Gulf right off of the Florida Coast. This is due to the potent cold front that was initially stalled out over the area and brought the coastal storm on Friday and Saturday. This has caused an area of disturbance that could move northeast, up and along the coast next week. While there does not appear to be any great threat to land, the system could develop into a moderate Tropical Storm and will definitely affect water conditions, at a minimum. This system will definitely need to be watched. Another area of invest is off the African Coast and will need to be watched for development over the next days to week.
Have a great week and thanks for reading!
