Took my 3 1/2 year old son, Jack and sister Jackie out for a little ride yesterday. Conditions in the morning we absolutely beautiful. We his the Manasquan Ridge and trolled some clark spoons with just one dropped fish. We marked fish but, none cooperated. Moved inshore to the just outside of the ACR and marked a huge amount of sea bass. First drop was a 14" keeper. We figured we'd have our limit quickly but, returned to the spot and the herd thinned out. Tried a couple more drops and only produced a bunch of shorts, sea robins and 2 mackerel. Moved onto the reef to try for fluke however, now there was a strong South wind and conditions deteriorated pretty quickly. We stuck it out for a while to watch the eclipse then headed in. It was great to get Jack out to enjoy fishing with his pop.
