Freshwater trolling motor, saltwater usage?
« on: September 20, 2018, 08:11:12 AM »
Hi everyone, I have recently found a nice used trolling motor (Minnkota, here's the link), yet it's a freshwater motor, you see. So I am kinda concerned about whether it won't corrode or something if I will use it in salt water? Does anyone know, what's the technical difference in the electric motors that are noted for freshwater and saltwater usage?

I own a Minnkota transom mount 12volt trolling motor and have used it plenty of times in saltwater and have had no issues. A freshwater rinse when your done is always good.
