How to catch Hogfish
The Hogfish is a species of wrasse, not snapper, native to the Western Atlantic, living in a rang from Nova Scotia, Canada, to northern South America, including the Gulf of Mexico. Th Hogfish uses is elongated pig-like snout to rummage and gaze for crustaceans that are buried beneath the sand.The shape of its snout and the way it uses it gave the Hogfish its name. Hogfish are considered to be one of the best eating fish ever to swim.Hogfish are very leader-shy and can be difficult to catch on hook and line. But it can be done.
Known a few 'tricks of the trade' can greatly increase chances of catching the elusive Hogfish. In this video Captain Frank Bacheler, one of the best in the business, shares his 'tricks.'
