 sealine x40sha line
Would like to spool reel for 150-200 deep water for ling, sea bass. I think all braid would be too much line. Probably use 40-50lb. But How?
Info appreciated..
Thanks
Howard

decide how much braid you want, then the rest would be monofilament backing. Super Slick 8 50lbs is only 12lbs mono thickness. Your reel has a capacity of 25/400 in mono. You could easily do 250yds of 25lb mono and 300yds 50lbs braid. Probably be able to use 300yd spools of each. You'd never see that backing coming off the reel fishing 200ft of water. Play with the numbers and find what would work best for you

  Ok,
If I use 1 spool 150 yds 40-50lb braid. How much Mono does that leave? . You are right. Reel holds 240 yards mono. less 450 feet braid. How much mono should go on first?
"Does spool have to be full"?
Thanks again.

If you use that diameter as an example, you can fit approximately 800yds of 12lb mono. Subtract the braid of equal diameter and that leaves you around 650yds of mono. You don't have to completely fill your spool but remember that as your reel empties, the drag is increased. Like I said, you got to play the numbers and find what will work for you
