this years goals
« on: March 12, 2008, 12:37:55 PM »
lets hear it what are your fishing goals for this year and how do you plan on meeting your goal. For me I want to do a bass over 40 I have come close but never hit the mark.I want to see a fluke over 13 lbs come over the rails of my boat I dont care if I catch it I just want to see it happen.I am not going for the numbers this year I want to learn to target big fish.Last year we had a nice fish every trip {almost} but didn't land any over 9 lbs.I also want to see more flounder limits on my boat, last season was hard for me w/ the boat breaking down so much so this year I want to give it hell w/ them. What is your goal

This will be my first year with my own boat, so my goal is to fish as much as I can and learn as much as I can based upon the knowledge given to me by friends and trial & error.

A 10lb doormat would be nice too.  ;D

1-Break the #30 mark on a striper. Personal best been holding at #28.

2-Break the #10 barrier on fluke. Personal best #9.8.

3-Enjoy the simple fact of being out on the water & not so concerned with catching my limit. I plan on doing more light tackle bucktailing for fluke (especially in the bay) & to enjoy the fight of the fish on scaled down tackle.

4-Have my son catch his first yellowfin tuna.

5-To do at least 2 out of state trips to locals that I haven't fished before & to target species that I haven't caught.

Duffman, I know the perfect boat to get your son his first bass. drop me a PM if interested.

Catch fish and enjoy each and every fishing trip with family and friends.

Especially like to get my son more into fishing and to enjoy it at least as half as much as his gameboy.

Try to break the 35# mark for surf caught striper.

Try to get more people interested in Surf fishing as an alternate to boating as money becomes scarce the beach is looking better and better for the average guy.  I hope to make it productive as well.  Not sure how yet but for right now it is one person at a time.

I hope to meet many NJSWF over the summer and if anyone wants to go out and share the cost (bait and gas if it goes over $4.00) drop me a PM.

Happy Catching

Paul

Ok, if we are talking hard #'s 10+ fluke (record is 6), 40+ striper (record is 38)and 12+ lb weakie.

I WOULD be real happy with a limit of seabass to 5lbs tho. TYhem things are REAL tasty raw!

To Duffman.......When my son was young and we used to fish the Hook in my 16 ft alum. boat there was NOTHING better than seeing a kid raise some fish especially a couple of big ones....good luck and enjoy it while they are young.

Since I won't be boating on my own this year, my goal is to learn a lot of new things by going on charters, open boat trips, head boats etc.

I'm hoping a year of learning from other people and meeting some people from this site will make me a better fisherman.

My goal this year will be to get a keeper striper on the fly rod.

Double digit fluke for me.  Only been trying for over 20 years ::) bngh

Double digit tog for Theresa would be just as nice.  She gets some nice fish, but that DD just eludes her. Who knows if NJ will even have a tog season next year 5hrug

30#+ bass would be good too.  Guess I'd have to actually target them seriously though ;)

Just want to fish as often as possible and catch some fish. TT^

I'd like to join the doormat fluke club with one over 10 pounds.  My best yet is 8 pounds.

I would also like to do more than the 60 fishing trips I did last year with my boat.   TT^
