Mantoloking Bridge - Bricktown Side
« on: April 21, 2007, 06:28:14 PM »
Hi All,

I went down to the Mantoloking Bridge to look at what is going on. There is a wood fence erected. I bet that is for a parking area but I need to confirm.

There is Parking just after the marina on the north side of Mantoloking Rd. Right now, there is one construction truck there. There is an opening in the fence that has a "Do Not Enter" yellow tape across it. I bet this will be a new driveway.

My take is that a new prking area is in the works (I hope). Right now, there are no restriction to get to a spot under the new bridge or on the old bridge for fishing.

I saw some guys pull in some schoolie stripers on pearl 4" Storm Shads. Some folks in boats were trying for flounder without apparent success. To me, that game is over.

If anyone wants pictures of where to park or the fence, I will send or post them.

Thanks,

Capt. Ed

Went by there today , that small parking area was full, 5 cars fit. I was on my way to fish the surf off Bay Head anyway. I'll get to check out the bridge during the week. It does appear to be in the process of being improved,  which I hope is the case. I've caught many fish there. When I've only got an hour to fish, it's convenient.
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><

I have fished Mantolokin beach religiously the past few years with great sucess.Last year I hit the bridge on my way home of a beat night on the beach, and to my surprise I slammed bass there for two hours strait. I hit that bridge two to three times a week mostly late night eairly morning. It does hold the bass. There has been this kid there with his very agressive pit bull at night. So keep you eyes open and your distance from the dog. I threw him off the peir one night for kicking the already upset dog and tourmenting the poor thing with a bluefish. He had a choice I kick him like he kicked the dog or leave. He left there pretty quick. I didnt call it in to the police, but let a friend know who has the connections. So as I did, if you see this kid up there with the dog let him know he or the dog isnt wanted on the pier. Happy catching  grtn
