Reel Class Flounder 4/23
« on: April 23, 2008, 07:50:01 PM »
Yep, still flounder fishing  Had Gary K and his grandson Brian, and Tom Hill and his son Justin aboard for a flounder trip. Started off a stone's throw from the marina, and not even 2 minutes into the trip Justin boxed a nice keeper, followed by another. Made a few moves, got a few more as the incoming was slowing down, then everything just shut off. Before the tide slacked out, we also had one cocktail bluefish lost @ boatside... Slack tide was dead, outgoing was pretty much dead, except for a 16-17" long fluke that decided to lunch on the sandworm, and also threw the hook right at boatside.

Total for the day was 5 plump flounder, Justin got one close to 2#. Great crew, can't wait to have them back!!

**Sidenote, on my way home, stopped at the inlet and saw guys throwing metal at dead low water (4:30 or so), and saw them hooking up w/ cocktail sized blues. I actually joined them for 10 minutes, swinging a couple over the wall on a 27 w/ a chartreuse tail. Things are a changin'... Looks like we'll be jiggin' bass/bluefish down our way a bit sooner then we expected!

Good report Capt. At least you got into some fish. Better than most flounder reports I have read lately.
Nice side note on the blues.  t^
