Originally had a charter scheduled for today, but due to the lack of fish that we saw on Wednesday, the group of 4 decided to reschedule to a later date for a fluke-bass combo trip. I subsequently had a off day, but of course last minute, a crew got itself together consisting of Steve Magyari, Capt Cat himself, Mike Byrne, and Brian A. I figured, what the hell, might as well give it one last shot!
Fished the inlet E of the train bridge, from the doggy beach out to the fisherman's cove right inside the inlet... Had nothing going on in the path in front of the doggy beach except for birds and 1 17" fluke, but finally got a flounder bite going in shallower water at the start of the cove. Got like 5 there. Then made a move further E, right on the E side of the cove, and got a pick going as the flood tide petered out... Mostly nice flounder, some small fish mixed in, with the occasional JUMBO sea robin... Mike and Cat each put one about 3# in the box.
Only fished till 1-1:30, had 16 in the box, shockingly I was thinking the flounder bite was completely over and done with, but this must have been a late push of fish exiting the river.
Bluefish were coming up around us most of the day, and a few flounder had fresh bites outta their tails.
