First time out - First keeper bass
« on: April 26, 2008, 08:02:56 PM »
Got lucky today. Went out of Sewaren around 8 a.m . despite the weather reports. Just really wanted to do a shakedown run and mess around with the new ff/plotter. Took a run to Perth Amboy in search of bunker. No bunker...no readings on ff. Was a little cold and a bit windy with winds coming from the south east. Figured I'd head up to GK for some bunkers. Bad idea. After about the third wave I was soaked. My little center console just wasn't gonna cut it today. Turned around and figured we would just troll in the river and look for marks. A few scattered marks here and there but nothing to get excited about. Threw on a Stretch 25+ and it was fish on. First was a nice big blue that was 30 inches and about ten pounds. Not long after that I hooked up with another fish. Thought it was another blue but when it came up it was a nice fat 30 inch Striper. Caught 4 more big blues and was on the trailer and headed home by noon. Probably not going to be able to get out for a few weeks so I'm glad I went. The boat ran great. New equipment worked well. And it sure was nice to feel that tug on the end of the line.
