Young Gull Stripers/blues 5/18
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:50:13 PM »
I made a solo run to do a little bass fishing. The tide was just starting to turn out going when I began my bunker search. After a few wiggles and throws I had the live well topped off. I headed over to Old Orchard to drift some live ones, but most guys were at anchor and I hate to anchor when I am solo so I made a move South West. It was here I saw some birds working and the demon fest begins, just as I was about to move on to another spot some bass showed up in the mix. I had changed my terminal tackle to 8/0 circle hooks tied to a 3' Bimini twist to help save on the steady hook loss.I also set up with a 5oz.bank sinker attached via a dropper loop to try to get the bunker past the voracious yellow eyes. At first I was concerned the bass may shy away from this set up,but this proved to be just fine today. I put two in the box and played catch and release for a while.

Really nice fish.   I am wondering about the bimini twist thing. Do you mean to say that you used that instead of a steel leader?   If not please explain..Thanks ;D
