Got the "stink" off today 5/22 Raritan Bay
« on: May 22, 2008, 01:52:21 PM »
My brother and two friends met up with Capt Ken Zwirko at the Seawaren ramp and were on our way at 4:30 AM today.

Quick stop at GK harbor and filled the baitwell on 3 net throws and enough bunker for the days fishing.  Capt. Ken nailed a big blue in the cast net on his third throw which went back into the water unharmed.

Fished the West Bank area most of the incoming with wind against.....mostly drifted.

Had to get past the blues that pecked all morning.  Striper bite was sporadic, but we managed to boat 4 nice ones from 18 to 24 lbs.

After going 0 for 3 on my striper outings it was nice to be able to feel the headshake of a nice 22 lb striper. chrz

Although we had some strange weather conditions with showers on and off, Capt. Ken did a great job at putting us over some nice fish. t^

Good going MGM.  I am still looking for a keeper size this season.  a number of shorts but I hope that will change soon.

Good job... TT^

Nice catch. Now that you broke the ice, you need to get the 40#er.  TT^

Congrats that's a nice Fish  !

Capt. Ken knows stripers and he's a heck of a nice guy...another trip is planned with him in June to try the oceanside bite....hopefully bigger fish will move in by then and will have a shot at breaking the 30# mark.
