WOW! What a day!!!
« on: June 07, 2008, 10:56:36 PM »
Headed out this afternoon only to be greeted by the Irish Ayes...  Nice to finally meet you and WHAT A CATCH TODAY!!!!   CONGRATS

Well, we didn't get a chance to do much fishing, but the trip was exciting none the less.  We headed out the inlet toward Bradley Beach only to hear my brother in law say, LOOK over there!!!  Expecting to see a pot of bunker, but to my surprise we saw a few fishermen, removing water from there boat with 5 gallon buckets.

We rushed over as fast as we could but were a bit late…  The seas took the boat and all their gear,.  We were able to get the 2 guys into our boat (unharmed and safe), put a call the Coast Guard and brought them safety.  It seems their engine had stalled and the water started making its way in… Sadly, the bilge pumps weren’t fast enough to rid the water and the boat capsized.

We can all learn from this.  It’s great to go out fishing and to have a good time on the water, but I can’t stress how important it is to make sure you have all your safety equipment and know how to use it.

I’m not sure if the 2 guys who lost their boat are members of the forum, but if you are, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out…  nosmly

Any info on what caused the capsizing?  Through the hull fitting?  Seems like a catastrophic event.
