0 runs, 8 hits, 1 error.

Had a new crew on today. All were excited about yesterdays report.

Headed south out of the inlet and again found some bunker. Snagged some up and livelined them. George got a blue fish run off but no hook up. It took the tail end off the bunker.

We tried several different spots and could not hook a fish. Had run offs, but no hookups. I had two run offs where the bass just dropped the bait. They scaled the bunker (no bite marks on them). I also had a blue bite a bunker in half.

We then went to the Sea Girt reef. No wind out that way, therefore, poor drift. Did score several skates and doggies, nothing to keep today.

Back in toward the shore to find some more bunker. I cast out a snag hook and the treble grabbed a bunker. As I was bringing the bunker to the boat to put on my liveline outfit it got hit. The Penn 560 liveliner peeled out yards of line before everything went slack. I dejectedly cranked in my slack line to find a straightened out size 6 duo-lock snap and no treble attached to it. Don't know what size fish would straighten out a snap that size, but it certainly wasn't the snagged bunker.  ;D

All in all, it was a fine day of fishing, just a poor day of catching.

Oh yeah, we did get a couple handfulls of throw back fluke.

Next trip, maybe Tuesday.  t^

Always check your snap after getting a hit by a bluefish. Don't know why, or how they do it, but I've had blues bite and open a snap more than a few times. You don't realize it, and can still cast a lure or fish a bait, but when you get a fish on, he straightens the snap right out, and is gone.

At least you hade a good day out, 8 hits is better than the 3 i got this morning, plus I had 3 errors, LMAO.

Wink, this was on my snagging rig. The only thing I was using this for was to snag bunker and transfer them over to a liveline outfit.

The snap was in fine order before I cast it out. When I brought it back to the boat empty, the snap was straight, which is why it was open.  5hrug Anyway, it was fun while it lasted.  ;D

Hey Joe was a tough day on the water, way to much boat traffic, and pleasure boaters oblivious to what fisherman are doing. Thanks for the info today and keeping things exciting  TT^

Yeah Skip. Too many times today I had 'pleasure boaters' run right into the middle of bunker pods. Problem is, there were also two 'fishermen boats' that did the same thing. Ya have to shake your head at them cause they are clueless of what they did wrong.  nosmly nosmly nosmly

Hey Joe,

Can't catch them big cows everyday! ;)

As far as your snap, I've had those duo-locks open up or get straightened out more than a couple times.  When I can get them I prefer the Berkley Cross-Lok snaps.  They seem to be stronger than the duo-locks and so far I haven't had one open up on me yet (knock wood). ;D
