Or he is a pro that fishes 7 days a week.

Ken fished the striper tourney last year, won the ASA striper tourney in 2007 at Sandy Hook.

Ken has a day job though......he knows stripers.

True circle hook in corner of blue shark mouth?

5/0 Gami Octopus on a 30 lb Flurocarbon leader. Lucky hook placement.

Nice catch. The fishing off of Asbury slowed down during the day. I was out at 8am and fished till 3pm. Was in bunker most of the day and only saw 4 fish caught all day.

I understand the evening bite has been pretty hot also.

Again, nice catch and congrats on your entry into the 30# club.  t^

From todays Star ledger re Capt Ken Zwirko

The first shark of the season reported to this column was one for the books as it was a blue shark caught Tuesday on a live bunker 1.7 miles offshore off Asbury Park -- far inshore of the normal range for that offshore species.

Capt. Ken Zwirko watched Larry Schmeider of Jackson fight the large shark for a long time, but it got hooked in such a way that its small, but sharp teeth couldn't cut the mono leader. Even when it rolled up in the line at boatside, the shark stayed hooked long enough for Zwirko to grab the leader before it broke. Zwirko has been running down the coast every day this week and had 40-pounders each trip until Tuesday, when bass up to 37 pounds were caught. His highlight was a 50-pounder released Monday by John Kotyk of Swedesboro.
