Tues. possible last report
« on: December 10, 2008, 05:16:39 PM »
Wanted to get the boat out of the water before this weeks crappy weather and made a day of it. Could not find any buddies willing to go so a solo trip it was. Left the marina at 9am and rounded the hook. No birds to the eye but the bncks spotted some gannets south. Was there for a while trying to get on fish but little to no marks. Finally the other birds started grouping and diving and for an hour or 2 it was thick with schoolies and 1 keeper at about 30". Then it laid down for the tide shift but never really started up again so I headed out towards ambross and found them thick by capt.Ron and 1 other boat. Without mobbing anyone I jigged with good results but only small ones. The other boat out there let me know that the stretch 25s put him on a 22#er so I started trolling and fish came over way faster than jigging. Got 1 more keeper and tried to fill in my bonus tag but only lost another keeper at the boat trying to net it. Going against the tide was crazy rough with 6-8 footers crashing over the bow but it was well worth it. Headed back to the hook befordark to drift some eels but my nav lights were out so I called it a day. At the marina I was just pulling the boat to the trailer when the darn lights went out. WTF! Its not easy putting it on the trailer solo with a flashlight in your mouth. Then I had to fillet on the boat after I pulled it , and had no water. grrr... Then I find my trailer lights are out........Still a good trip. Caught at least 30 fish. And came home with fillets.  I will keep the boat at my inlaws for a few weeks in case we have some decent weather. I think the fish will still be here at X-mas.

Nice trip Keith. Dispite the 6-8 ft seas, no nav. lites and plenty of shorts you did manage to keep a couple and get some fillets for a good day.     t^
Its a pain in the arse when they shut the water off;I was there about 3:30 pm for a few minutes(passing thru) and some guy was working(repairing) the plastic pipes way down the end.

You're a trooper.  Get those nav lights fixed and get back out there.
