Sand eels for fluke

has anyone used sand eels for fluke I saw them at the bait shop but have never used them. What has your experience been with using them.

They work....better sometimes than others....problem has been that the sand eel runs have been down for a few years....when the fluke are foraging on them they are dynamite bait.

thanks for the reply i will try them out and then report on how they work. do you fish them the same way as spearing?

Fish one or two on a hook just like a spearing or in combo with a strip bait like squid or sea robin belly.

Sometimes carefully bending a sandeel or large spearing, breaking their back, can add a nice wiggle to your bait and lessen the spin factor.
